What’s New

Instead of WC grading each photo with a rigid grading system, WC will use a simplified grading system just to determine the top 6 photos in the contest. Afterward, users will be able to vote in the WC group which one they like best in order to determine the winning photo! Read more to see the differences and how to play this season’s contest!

Tip #1

Got a good chance for taking a picture? Take advantage of it! Take the picture and upload it to WC! Not satisfied with it later on or got a better one? You can always change your photo after by deleting it and uploading the new one!

Rules:

  1. ONLY upload 1 photo
  2. Videos are not allowed
  3. Photos MUST be your own
  4. You must only upload images you’ve taken in the time period of the contest. No past photos allowed!
  5. Only photos that are weather related or nature related are accepted. Any photos that don’t display at least one of these things will be removed from the contest.

Photo Points Guide:

Below shows the points and grading system WC will use on your photos.

In the image below shows various elements that, if included in the photo, will award a specific number of points. For example, if a user captured a shelf cloud in their image, they will be awarded 15 points.

The items in black below are a 1- 10 rating system directly for the photo style and quality. This scale will be based on how your image turns out in terms of quality. For example, if your image is very blurry, you are likely to get a low rating for “Photo Quality”. If your image is crooked and a building obstructs the main focal point of the image, you could get a lower rating for “Viewport Quality”.

All scores will be taken into account in order to select the final 6 contestants for the voting stage.

1-10 | Photo Quality Based on Image Clarity

1-10 | Artistic Quality Based on Quality of Photo’s Professionalism and Uniqueness

1-10 | Viewport Quality Based on If Photo is Level, Clear, and Unobstructed

Tip #2

Making sure to include as many special elements as possible in your final photo from the image above is very important in these WC Contests! By studying this list and seeking to capture these elements in your final photo, you will have a very good chance of reaching the podium!

Photo Voting

Once the contest ends, there will be a one-week period where users will be able to vote for the top 6 weather photos in a poll under the “Weather Photo Contest” group. These 6 will be selected by WC based on the new grading system. After this one-week period, the participant with the most votes will win! All of this will be announced in the “Weather Photo Contest” group on WC!
