Severe Weather Awareness Week 2022


Starting now, Texas Weather Center will be practicing a time known as “Severe Weather Awareness Week.” This time will be from March 14th-18th. During this time, WC hopes you will do the following:

  • Practice Weather Safety in your home
    • If any severe weather poses a threat to your area, practice extra care in your preparation and safety in order to be prepared for future purposes or to be a role model to others in your home.
  • Make an effort to keep track of weather news
    • Learn the ways of weather forecasters and how they deliver their information. Knowing how they deliver it can help you get the weather information when you need it the most.
  • Follow WC for tips on it’s Weather Discussion Group week long!
    • WC will be posting tips on this group for you to read and learn new things about severe weather preparedness!

Weather is indeed a spectacular thing! I love weather simply because of the shear power and beauty it presents to all of us! While severe weather is dangerous, it is also an amazing phenomenon that occurs on earth every year where we get to marvel at its spectacular-ness! Severe Weather is possible for DFW tomorrow in the late afternoon hours! The main risk remains hail and wind, but even a small tornado risk remains possible.
